Tiki Torch Fuels – Time-Lapse Burnoff!

The goal of this burn test is to demonstrate the soot and smoke produced by various tiki torch fuels using a 1/2″ fiberglass wick and how long they really burn.

From left to right is a common tiki torch fuel found in big-box stores for outdoor use only. The second fuel is odorless tiki torch fuel for outdoor use only. Next, firefly paraffin oil for indoor/outdoor use and last is Firefly Safe & Green, our eco-friendly, non-toxic fuel for indoor/outdoor use.

We filled each container with 2 oz. of fuel and kept the wick flush with the collar.

Tiki Torch Fuels – The Results

From a smoke and soot perspective, Firefly Safe & Green was the best performer, then Firefly paraffin oil; next, Firefly tiki torch fuel. The common tiki fuel produced the most soot and smoke painting the background black and other nearby items.

How Long did the Tiki Torch Fuels Burn? Here are the numbers….
The big-box tiki fuel burned 6 hours 5 minutes
Firefly Tiki Fuel burned 9 hours 35 minutes. That’s 3 hours, 30 minutes longer!

Remember, we’re only burning 2 ounces of fuel. So for each ounce of fuel, Firefly Tiki Fuel provides another 1 hour and 45 minutes of burn time!

So this means, in our test, a gallon of Firefly tiki fuel will last approximately 224 hours longer than a gallon of the common tiki fuel. That’s well over 50% longer! It’s actually 57.5% longer.

Seeing is believing. Thanks for watching.
